Fort Collins Impressive Financial Health

A recent article from the Fort Collins Coloradoan analyzes the financial position of the city of Fort Collins.  In summary; this information is quite impressive.

Fort Collins’ fiscal fitness a result of staying healthy financially

A few things that stood out to me include the fact that the city has fund balances equal to 73% of annual revenues and has achieved a 15% debt reduction since 2005.  Both of these figures signal long-term fiscal stability for the city!

The article also cites two 2011 statistics: a 5.2% increase in taxable sales over 2010, and a 5.8 month housing inventory (down from 11.5 months in 2010).  Both of these figures indicate what I estimated had been happening all year; people in Fort Collins are spending money!
